Swing Trading Weekly Watchlist Monday 07/07 - Before Market Open
6 High-Potential Swing Trading Setups I'm Watching This Week
If you're anything like me - someone who prefers charts to small talk and finds more beauty in a bull flag than a Monet - then you know the joy of identifying a clean setup.
Below are six swing setups that currently top my watchlist. I’m not married to any of them. My stops are always tight, and my exits are unapologetic. But the potential reward-to-risk on these names? Worth the attention.
Let’s dive in.
🏆 1. Trane Technologies (TT) – Classic Cup & Handle Breakout
A textbook cup and handle pattern. The stock consolidated above rising 10- and 20-day SMAs before forming a shallow handle with tight price action.
Volume dropped where it should (in the handle) and started ticking higher as price pushed back toward resistance near $438.
What I like:
Clean base, minimal volatility.
Handle held above the 10-day SMA.
Relative strength > 85.
Risk zone: Handle low near $428.
Breakout level: $438.60
Preferred entry: On a strong breakout with volume confirmation.
🔋 2. Byrna Technologies (BYRN) – Squat & Shakeout Combo
This one is a bit messier, but full of character. After a strong rise, the share formed a small VCP pattern, followed by an attempted breakout that was short-lived.
There was a second pullback to the SMA(20) and a small shake-out took place. Currently, the price is back near resistance at full strength.
What I like:
That shakeout cleared weak hands.
The squat suggests accumulation under the surface.
Risk zone: Just below the recent low (~$29.51) or, if you prefer to play it a little more aggressively, just below the last candle.
Breakout level: $33.55
Watch for: Continuation move after breakout. Don’t chase a gap.
🧠 3. Evolv Technologies (EVLV) – Mini Shakeout in a Volatile Name
This one’s a bit more speculative. The stock has already made an extended move but recently consolidated in a tight range. Last week’s sharp red candle was a classic shakeout, undercutting support and bouncing back with a vengeance.
What I like:
Trend remains strong.
Shakeout didn’t breach the 20-day.
Volume remains supportive.
Risk zone: Below the shakeout low near $5.75 or below the SMA(20).
Breakout level: Above the last candle’s high, after that $6.46
Notes: Entering above last candle’s high with a tight stop is a very aggressive play
🧱 4. Azek Co (AZEK) – Trendline Bounce + Inside Day Setup
AZEK has respected this ascending trendline beautifully, with price bouncing right off it twice. The most recent test was accompanied by a sharp rise, bringing the price back to the resistance level, with last Wednesday's (July 2) sharp price increase being particularly notable.
On Thursday, July 3, just before the long weekend, the inside day came about, accompanied by a very sharp increase in volume.
That inside day, just below the resistance level, shows an enormous volume.
Exactly my kind of turning point with low risk.
What I like:
Rising 10/20/50-day SMAs.
Consistent higher lows.
Inside day pattern offers tight risk entry.
Risk zone: Just below the inside day low (~$53.60).
Breakout level: +$55.00
Notes: For a less aggressive play, use a stop loss below the SMA(10)(20)
🧪 5. Hesai Group (HSAI) – Shakeout + Bullish Engulfing at Key Support
HSAI shook out below a key support level and bounced back with a bullish engulfing candle right where it mattered. The base is messy but potentially explosive.
What I like:
Multiple shakeouts = weak hands gone.
Green zone support has been defended fiercely.
Engulfing bar is strong and comes with rising volume.
Risk zone: Just below most recent candle
Breakout level: Just above most recent candle or above resistance at $24.21 (more defensive)
Potential: Could become a fast mover above $22.42
🥇 6. Kinross Gold (KGC) – Persistent Base with Repeated Shakeouts
Talk about resilience. KGC has been grinding sideways under resistance at $15.95 with multiple shakeouts, none of which broke the trend.
Each dip has been bought. This is base-building 101.
What I like:
Support at $15 has held for weeks.
10/20 SMAs compressing just below resistance.
Breakout could trigger a short squeeze.
Risk zone: Below $15.00 (defensive), below $15.40 (aggressive)
Breakout level: $16.00
Note: Gold sector strength would be a bonus tailwind.
Final Thoughts
Each of these setups carries a different flavor, some are clean breakouts (TT, AZEK), some are more advanced shakeout plays (BYRN, HSAI).
I don’t predict, I react. My edge lies in the ability to recognize high-probability patterns and manage risk with absolute discipline. If the setup fails, I’m out fast. No ego. No hope.
My advice? Pick your spots, define your risk, and let the probabilities play out.
